Citronella is another name for lemongrass, a genus of several tropical plants with a subtle citrus aroma belonging to the grass family. Citronella grasses are used for both culinary and medicinal purposes, but are known to many as a natural insect deterrent. Avid gardeners will often plant citronella grass throughout their gardens to deter mosquitoes and other insects.
